North East India
The remarkable north-east region of India is often overlooked, however a journey here is well rewarded with the magical states of Assam and Nagaland being particular highlights. Defined by the mighty Brahmaputra River which snakes through the heart of the north east, this is an underexplored region of spectacular natural beauty, pristine wildlife reserves and a strong indigenous culture. A visit here can be an extremely rewarding and insightful experience.
Assam is the most accessible state and the starting point for cruises on the Brahmaputra. You can explore the National Park of Kaziranga where you have the best opportunity to spot rhino in the wild, as well as seeing the Royal Bengal Tiger and some of India’s best national parks with Manas, Nameri, Namdapha and Dibru-Saikhowa sanctuaries.
For the more adventurous, You can also explore the lesser visited areas of the north-east such as Nagaland, Shillong and Arunachal Pradesh home to a rich tribal heritage and colourful annual festivals.
Take a visual journey through what we consider to be some of North East India’s unmissable highlights.
